The Greek Economy conference, the flagship event of the American-Hellenic Chamber of Commerce, was successfully organized for the 25^th consecutive year on December 1 & 2, 2014 at the Athenaeum InterContinental Hotel.

The conference attracted once again the elite of the political, diplomatic, academic, business and media communities in Greece, with hundreds of delegates attending this summit meeting. An impressive array of high caliber speakers—the Prime Minister of Greece, Antonis Samaras, the Leader of the Opposition, Alexis Tsipras, the US Ambassador to Greece, David Pearce as well as Ministers of productive ministries, presidents of local and international organizations, bankers, distinguished academics, representatives of think tanks and prominent businessmen lend their unique perspectives, initiated constructive dialogues in an effort to promote a sustainable environment for entrepreneurship and economic growth and vitality.

Each year the program of the conference focuses on local and global issues, as well as on key sectors of the Greek economy. This year, The Greek Economy conference will focus on pivotal issues that concern Greek as well as European citizens. Despite the admirable fiscal adjustments and the large number of reforms Greece has enacted, there is little room for underperformance and concerns in many areas remain. Key issues such as transparent accounting, the end of memorandum, the restructured banking system, the energy sector’s perspectives, business financing, the digital economy as well as the latest European and global prospects for economic growth and development have been discussed at this pivotal gathering.

From abroad Deborah Wince-Smith, President & CEO, United States Council on Competitiveness, USA, Dimitris Tsitsiragos, Vice President, IFC, Jacob Soll, Professor of History and Accounting, Department of History, University of South California, USA and William Antholis, Managing Director, Brookings Institution, USA visited our country for the conference to share their views with the audience and participate in focused meetings.
